Lock Jun Qi

LOCK is the partner of the firm who specializes in disputes resolution. He focuses mainly on construction, commercial and corporate disputes.

In line with Lock’s practice, he possesses extensive experience in different forms of alternative dispute resolution, such as arbitration and adjudication under the Construction Industry Payment and Adjudication Act, 2012 (“CIPAA 2012”).

In Lock’s early days of practice, he has acted as junior counsel for a number of construction companies in litigation, arbitration and adjudication proceedings.

Moreover, Lock also advised and represented shareholders and directors of companies in resolving inevitable deadlock management and other disputes in relation to Companies Act 2016.

Notable Engagements

Acted as junior counsel in court proceedings to pursue a claim exceeding RM12 million which is resulted from corporate fraud, breach of trust and breach of fiduciary duties. In order to secure the best interest of clients, Lock has also acted for the client to seek injunction (freezing order) in Court to prevent dissipation of assets.
Acted as junior counsel in an arbitration where the amount in dispute exceeds RM30 million. The core of the disputes in such arbitration revolves around a construction contract to carry out earthwork with all associated works relating to design, construction, supply, installation, completion, testing, commissioning and maintenance of an electrified double track.
Acted as junior counsel in an arbitration involving a construction contract that incorporated the PAM conditions of Building Contract to design, fabricated, supply, deliver, install, test, commission and maintain of a high rise building in Malaysia.
Acted for a contractor to pursue claims in adjudication proceedings under CIPAA 2012 for works done in relation to operations and maintenance building with external works and services for a solar power plan project.
Acted as junior counsel on behalf of a developer company in judicial review proceedings to challenge and quash a decision made by the government which involves a plot of land meant for the construction of a public road. The matter was eventually disposed of at the Federal Court.
